My husband and I wanted to add an addition to our home for years before we finally decided to act on the idea. However, we then realized that we desperately needed to update our kitchen, as well. Before we started the remodeling process, we prepared for what we expected: stress. We made sure we cleared our calendars and didn't have any other major commitments during the remodeling process. However, once we began planning the renovations, we quickly learned that we were actually having a lot of fun! The renovation process also went very smoothly and, now that the process is over, we both joke around that it feels "too quiet" in hear without the company of the contractors. I enjoyed t all so much I decided to start a blog to share my remodeling tips to help others who will soon be taking the plunge!
If your gutters are not staying attached to the roof, are not hanging level, or have too many holes and gaps to fix, it is time to replace them. When you go shopping for the new gutters, here are a few things you should consider instead of just going with the same thing you have there now. Since you are having them replaced, why not go for new ones that will make your life easier by requiring less maintenance and upkeep.
Seamless gutters are fabricated right at your home to fit the house. The only seams involved are at corners and downspouts. You won't have the different sections pulling apart and needed to be repaired. In addition, there will not be the seams and connecting pieces to trap and hold the debris in them so you will not have to worry about cleaning them out as much.
Gutter guards are metal or plastic pieces that fit over the gutters. They have holes or are mesh to allow the rain water to flow through to the gutters. As the rain flows across the guards, it pushes the leaves and debris over the side of the house to the ground. This prevents a build up or a clog in the gutters you will need to clean out. However, there will still be dirt and other small pieces that can pass through the guards so you will still need to clean them out, just not as frequently.
Gutter Cleaning Robot
While you will still have to put the robot into the gutters to do the cleaning, you will not have to go up and down a ladder to clean out small areas. While you could try to use the robot on an existing gutter system, it is a good idea to wait until there are new gutters that do not have holes, are bent, or have a caked in layer of debris before you start using the robot.
Do not put off replacing bad gutters. Having rain water clogged in the gutters can be damaging to the roof. The weight of the water will pull the gutter away from the roof, pulling siding or fascia away and leaving the wood exposed. The moisture will rot the wood and also cause the metal of the gutter to rust. Eventually, if left alone, the gutters will fall off completely. The sooner you have damaged gutters replaced, such as by Allstate Gutter & Siding, the less likely you are going to have to redo parts of the roof too. Since you are already having work done, you might as well go for the options that will benefit you.
